US History - Experienced: Kathleen Williams

Kathy graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Secondary Education, a major in American History and minors in English and Political Science. She began her teaching career in the Phoenix area teaching junior high American history and English. After moving to Denver, Kathy began teaching at the senior high level with classes that included Advanced Placement United States History. After returning to Phoenix, she taught English and Advanced Placement United States History at Dobson High School in Mesa. During her time at Dobson, she also served as the Instructional Specialist and Social Studies Department Chairperson. Currently, she is working for Mesa Public Schools as the District Advanced Placement Coordinator. She is also involved with the District's two Teaching American History grants. She serves as a coordinator and trainer for the We the People Curriculum and has also trained teachers for Project Citizen for the Center for Civic Education both nationally and internationally. She has helped to design curriculum for the "Our Courts" program, working with Justice Sandra Day O'Conner and has worked on curriculum to celebrate Arizona's centennial. Kathy is also a United States History Advanced Placement Table Leader/Reader and a consultant for the College Board.
