Statisitcs - Experienced - Murray Siegel
Murray Siegel currently teaches statistics at the Polytechnic campus of Arizona State University. He is a member of the Joint Committee of the Mathematical Association of America and the American Statistical Association on Statistics Education. Murray has been a College Board AP Statistics consultant since 1995 and has conducted institutes in AZ, CA, FL, GA, IL, LA, MI, NV, NM, OH, OK, SC, TX, WA and WI. His first experience as an AP Statistics exam reader occurred in 1998 and he has been a table leader since 2003. Murray has taught AP Statistics in four high schools in three states. He was a member of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Statistics Workshop team that conducted summer workshops from 1985 through 1998, from Boston to San Antonio to Honolulu. He received the 1986 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching.
Murray received his B.S. in engineering physics from New York University and his M.Ed. and Ph.D. in mathematics education from Georgia State University. His dissertation research investigated the teaching of statistical concepts to 5th, 6th and 7th grade students. He resides in Maricopa, AZ with his wife Sharon, who teaches developmental mathematics and teacher preparation courses at Central Arizona College.
