Physics B - Martha Leitz

Martha Lietz graduated from Vassar College with an A.B. in physics and from Carnegie Mellon University with an M.S. in physics. She has been teaching AP Physics at Niles West High School in Skokie, Illinois since the fall of 1990. She has taught summer and evening courses at North Park College in Chicago and Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. She worked with the Physics Teaching Resource Agent program (PTRA) from 1992 -1998 and has been an AP Reader and consultant since 1997. She has led numerous PTRA and AP teacher training workshops around the country. Martha has presented several papers at local and national AAPT meetings, and has had articles published in The Physics Teacher. She began serving as a Table Leader at the AP Reading in 2005, and as a Question Leader in 2009. Martha served on the AP Physics Development Committee from 2001-2005, and currently writes and edits questions for the AP Physics Exam on a free-lance basis. She has earned the John Rush Award and the Harald Jensen Award for contributions to the local physics teaching alliances. In November of 2009, she was named a National Board Certified Teacher. In her “free time”, what little there is, Martha loves to travel (and take lots of pictures), play board games and read mystery novels.
