World Languages & Culture - Gustavo Fares
Gustavo Fares is a native of Argentina. He holds a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from the University of Pittsburgh,
a Master in Foreign Languages from West Virginia University, and a J.D. Law Degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
As Professor of Spanish and Chairperson of the Spanish Department at Lawrence University his primary responsibilities include teaching
all levels of the Spanish language and Latin American literature, visual arts, and culture courses. Dr. Fares research interests
include the work of the Mexican writer Juan Rulfo, contemporary Argentinean women writers, Latin American culture, and cultural studies.
From 2005 until 2008, he was the chairperson of the Advanced Placement Development Committee for Spanish Language and Literature from
the College Board. Dr. Fares is currently the Chief Reader for AP Spanish Language Exams. He has served as educational consultant for
the College Board since 2002.
