Biographies
Studio Art - Doug Allen

Doug Allen has taught AP Studio Art classes for over 25 years and is currently Fine Arts Consultant for Jordan School District in West Jordan, Utah. He also teaches art classes for Brigham Young University Salt Lake Center. He is a graduate from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Masters in Art Education, and an Administrative Certificate. He also has an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education; for seven years was Principal of the enrichment program for his school district called “Bright Ideas”, which offered summer and Saturday enrichment opportunities.

Mr. Allen is not only an educator, but also an accomplished artist and has many commissions for his paintings. He taught high school in Australia for three years and while living there won 1st Place in an International Painting Competition celebrating the discoveries of Capitan Cooke.

He has been a grader for the College Board in studio Art for 6 years, as well as, being a presenter for AP workshops and Institutes in sharing strategies for teaching Studio Art. He has presented several times at the National Art Education Association Convention and was invited to present at the National AP Conference in 2005 and again in 2007. He was awarded a teacher scholarship at the Chicago Art Institute in 2006 to work with master teachers from across the United States.

His students have won numerous awards in many areas, including 2 National Awards (1995 & 2005) for the Federal Jr. Duck Stamp Contest and the National PTA Reflections Competition. Many of his students have successful Art careers.
