Biology - Experienced: Joy Killough
Joy Killough is a career science educator. She has had the privilege of working with students of all ages from elementary through college, including over twenty years teaching AP Biology at Westwood High School in Austin, Texas. She has been a consultant to the College Board since 1999 and has served as a reader for the AP Biology exam. Joy has consulted throughout the United States and internationally and she enjoys exchanging stories and lessons with other educators. She is a Past President of the Texas Association of Biology Teachers (TABT) and received a Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching in 2011. The Texas Academy of Science named her the 2012 Outstanding Texas Educator. Joy earned a BA in Biological Science and a Master of Science in Biology from The University of Houston/ Clear Lake. Joy received a Graduate Merit Fellowship from Texas A&M University in 2014 where she is a PhD student in Curriculum and Instruction (Science Education). Her research interests include science professional development, reforms in science education, and math-science integration.
